Nervous System Health

If you’ve been considering chiropractic care for yourself or your child, but you haven’t made that first appointment yet, I get it.

Walking into a new healthcare office can come with a lot of questions.

What are they going to do? Will my child be comfortable? Am I going to feel pressured into something? How do they even know what needs to be addressed?

One of the things that’s really important to me at Spark Life Chiropractic is that you understand what we’re doing and, more importantly, why we’re doing it.

So, I thought I’d walk you through exactly what you can expect when you come see us for the first time.

We Start With Your Story

Before we do anything else, we talk.

And I don’t mean a two-minute conversation where we check a few boxes and move on.

We want to understand what brought you through our doors in the first place. We’ll talk about your health history, the concerns you’re experiencing now, things you’ve tried in the past, and what you’re hoping to accomplish.

For our pediatric patients, this can also mean learning more about pregnancy, birth, development, sleep, behavior, milestones, injuries, illnesses, and other pieces of your child’s history.

Sometimes things that seem completely unrelated can help us better understand the bigger picture.

Then We Take a Look at the Nervous System

One of the things that makes our approach at Spark Life different is our use of INSiGHT nervous system scans.

These scans are non-invasive and help us gather objective information about nervous-system function.

Depending on what we’re evaluating, this technology can help us look at things like patterns of muscle activity, temperature regulation, and heart rate variability.

There are no needles, and the scans don’t hurt. In fact, most of our younger patients are pretty interested in seeing what’s happening.

The important part is that these scans give us another piece of information to consider alongside your history and examination.

We’re not interested in guessing.

We want to gather as much useful information as we can so that any recommendations we make are specific to the person sitting in front of us.

Next, We’ll Complete Your Examination

From there, we’ll perform an examination based on your individual needs and what we’ve learned during your consultation.

This gives us an opportunity to look more closely at how your body is functioning and helps complete the picture we’re building from your history and scans.

Your first appointment is designed to be thorough, but that doesn’t mean it needs to feel intimidating.

We’ll explain what we’re doing along the way, and you’re always welcome to ask questions.

Your First Visit Also Includes an Adjustment

Once we’ve completed the evaluation and determined that chiropractic care is appropriate, we’ll finish your first visit with a focused adjustment.

Our approach is individualized, so an adjustment for a baby or young child isn’t necessarily going to look the same as an adjustment for an adult.

The goal is always to provide care that’s appropriate for the person, their age, and what we’re seeing clinically.

Your Second Visit Is Where We Put Everything Together

Your next appointment is an important one.

This is when we’ll sit down together and review what we found.

We’ll discuss your examination, walk through your INSiGHT scan findings, and explain how those findings relate to the concerns and history you shared with us.

If we believe continued chiropractic care could be beneficial, we’ll also discuss our recommendations and what a care plan could look like.

I want you to leave that conversation understanding what we found and why we’re recommending what we’re recommending.

You Should Feel Comfortable Asking Questions

Ultimately, coming into our office isn’t about committing to something before you understand it.

It’s about getting information.

It’s about having someone listen to what’s been going on.

And it’s about determining whether the approach we offer at Spark Life Chiropractic makes sense for you or your child.

If you’ve been thinking about scheduling for a while but still have questions, give our office a call. We’re happy to talk through what your first visit would look like before you ever walk through the door.

Sometimes knowing what to expect makes that first appointment a whole lot easier.
